Kris Jenner Upset At Her Own Party

krisj1_wide.jpg
It was supposed to be a family affair ? a chance for Kris Jenner to bask in her success, surrounded by the children she?s worked so hard to transform into reality superstars. But two of her three grown daughters were noticeably absent at New York?s Villa Pacri, where Kris celebrated signing a whopping $40 million contract for three more seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and In Touch has all the details!

?Kourtney was there with her boyfriend, Scott, but Khloé left abruptly before the festivities started and Kim skipped it altogether ? even though she was in New York,? says a witness from the April 22 event.

The witness adds she was ?visibly shaken and in tears? over Kim ? and six-months pregnant Kourtney, 33, bore the brunt of her hurt feelings.

?She pulled Kourtney over and started a fight with her about how she was raising her little son, Mason,? the witness confides, adding that Kris? once-agreeable daughter was clearly annoyed. ?Kourtney was telling her to mind her own business. She said Khloé was right about how controlling Kris is.?

Already, Khloé, 27, and husband Lamar Odom have pulled the plug on their reality show ? to Kris? furor ? and now it seems Kim is also pulling away from Kris. According to an insider, Kim?s contract as a spokesperson for Tao, Las Vegas is about to expire ? and she?s negotiating a new one, without the help of her mom.

?She?s selling herself to the highest bidder, with a starting price of $150,000 per appearance,? reveals the insider. ?She stands to make a million dollars, but she?s cutting Kris out, even though Kris negotiated her first contract with Tao. It?s interesting.?

?Broke? Tom Lawlor gets $40,000 Knockout of the Night bonus at UFC on Fuel 3

Tom Lawlor knocked out Jason MacDonald in under a minute at UFC on Fuel 3 Tuesday and earned a $40,000 Knockout of the Night bonus. It turns out the extra money could not have come at a better time.

Lawlor, who is known for his flamboyant entrances and joking mood, became serious in a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani. When Helwani asked about the pressure to win after coming off a loss at UFC 139, Lawlor admitted that the pressures were financial.

“I’ll be honest. I’m broke. I have no money. This money that I got today, it’s going to be the first time I’ve deposited a check in over a year. A year and a half. This is like a big deal to me. I had to borrow money from friends and family just in order to go into this fight. I want to thank them, obviously. This means a lot to me mentally, it means a lot to my bank account.”

He recently switched training camps and moved to Massachusetts to be closer to family. The cost of living and fighting just once in 2011 — a loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 139 — caught up with him.

“I think I miscalculated the cost of living in the Northeast,” Lawlor said. “I basically took all my money, bought a house and blew through my money ? just living costs, traveling, price of gas, multiple training locations.”

Unlike in the four major sports leagues, fighters pay for their own training expenses. The win plus $40,000 in bonus money should help Lawlor pay back those friends and family who were kind enough to help him.

Nate Diaz, Jim Miller make weight at UFC on Fox 3 weigh-ins in New Jersey

Jim Miller made weight in front of his home crowd at the Izod Center in Newark, just a half hour from where he trains. His opponent, Nate Diaz, also made weight to make their five-round fight on Saturday official.

The rest of the weigh-ins were uneventful. Danny Castillo sported the best outfit, coming to the stage in what appeared to be a suit and tie, but tore off like track pants. John Dodson’s socks were the best accessory. John Lineker came in a pound heavy for his flyweight bout with Louis Gaudinot, and will hand over $1,200 to Gaudinot.

Amber Portwood Released From Jail, Has a Lot on Plate

Amber Portwood has been released from jail. She got sprung yesterday.

The troubled Teen Mom star was placed back behind bars last week after violating the terms of her probation by failing to appear in an Indiana court.

The 22-year-old allegedly lied about a medical condition to get out of a drug test. Her probation officer called the bluff, asking her doctor directly.

Some very sleepy-eyed Amber Portwood mug shots soon followed.

Amber Screams

How’s the reality star feeling now that she’s back on the other side?

“OK,” Amber told E! News. “Just hustling. I’ve got a lot on my plate.”

Naturally.

According to her brother, Shawn Portwood, Amber’s “new goal is to join the military.” Yes, apparently he’s serious. “She was going to work hard to get her charge reduced,” added Shawn. “She’s been doing so well.”

The Teen Mom trailer would suggest otherwise, but here’s hoping.

‘The point of no confidence is quite near’

The wreckage of Jochen Rindt’s car at Barcelona © Getty Images

An excellent insight into the world of F1 as it used to be can be found on the regularly-interesting Letters of Note website. It publishes a hitherto unseen letter from Jochen Rindt to Lotus boss Colin Chapman written shortly after Rindt?s crash at Barcelona which was a result of the wing system on Lotus 49 collapsing at speed.

?Colin. I have been racing F1 for 5 years and I have made one mistake (I rammed Chris Amon in Clermont Ferrand) and I had one accident in Zandvoort due to gear selection failure otherwise I managed to stay out of trouble. This situation changed rapidly since I joined your team. ?Honestly your cars are so quick that we would still be competitive with a few extra pounds used to make the weakest parts stronger, on top of that I think you ought to spend some time checking what your different employes are doing, I sure the wishbones on the F2 car would have looked different. Please give my suggestions some thought, I can only drive a car in which I have some confidence, and I feel the point of no confidence is quite near.?

A little more than a year later Rindt’s Lotus suffered mechanical breakdown just before braking into one of the corners. He swerved violently to the left and crashed into a poorly-installed barrier, killing him instantly.

Donald Cerrone hoping to win UFC on Fuel 3 bonus for a pontoon boat

Donald Cerrone is used to walking away from fights with fight night bonuses. Stretching back to his days in the WEC, “Cowboy” has picked up nine Fight of the Night, Submission of the Night, or Knockout of the Night bonuses.

For tonight’s UFC on Fuel 3 fight against Jeremy Stephens, it’s not surprising that Cerrone already has plans for the next bonus he will try to win.

“You name it, the post-fight bonuses, I’m going for it,” Cerrone declared through his informal drawl. “I’ve got [expletive] to buy. I’m thinking (of getting) 10 or 12 girls to come out on a pontoon boat.”

Since he has picked up so many bonus checks, perhaps the UFC needs to think of different ways to motivate Cerrone. Much as Lincoln Hawk arm-wrestled for a new tractor/trailer in “Over the Top,” Cerrone could fight for a boat, or a new horse for his ranch, or a lifetime supply of cowboy hats. It’s not too much to ask for.

From A Hackathon Win To A 650K Round And 10,000 Users, Docracy Tells All

Screen shot 2012-05-18 at 1.29.11 PMThe tale of Docracy’s year-long journey is a fun one. When Matt Hall and his partner John Watkinson first went into the Hackathon last year, the only goal was to get a prototype working for an idea they had, a GitHub for legal documents. Sure, a win would’ve been nice, but the main goal was to push out a prototype they could pitch to investors (instead of just an idea) with a firm deadline hanging over their shoulders. But alas, Docracy took home the top prize despite the fact that they were the first of more than 100 presentations that day. And after last year’s Disrupt NYC (tickets to this year’s Disrupt here), the story only gets better.

Phillip Phillips: Urged to Seek Medical Help

Might the success of Phillip Phillips on American Idol be jeopardizing his health? Without a doubt, YES, according to the singer’s doctors.

TMZ reports that the finalist’s physicians are adamant: Phillips needs surgery to repair a kidney issue as soon as possible. His family doctor even spent the entire day last Saturday – during Phillip’s Idol-sponsored trip home to Georgia – by the contestant’s side.

Phillip Phillips Photograph

But Phillips would be sidelines for six weeks if he underwent the recommended procedure, so he is choosing to soldier on through at least next Thursday’s American Idol finale.

In the meantime, Phillip is simply taking medication, but that’s also resulting in dry mouth and possibly impacting his singing. Either way, though, win or lose, the talented young man’s journey will come to an end in one week.

Who do you think should win American Idol?

Trayvon Martin Surveillance Video: 7-Eleven Cameras Show Teen Just Before Shooting

Surveillance video of some of Florida teen Trayvon Martin’s final moments before being fatally shot by George Zimmerman have just surfaced online.

In his infamous hoodie, Martin can be seen in a video released by 7-Eleven, where he purchased Skittles and an iced tea before walking home Feb. 26.

He was shot by Zimmerman after an altercation on his way back to the home of his father’s fiancé, where he was staying, triggering a media firestorm.

The video below doesn’t change anything about the controversial case, as the shooting – which Zimmerman claims was self-defense – is obviously not shown.

Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder but remains free on bail. Martin’s family yesterday criticized a series of leaks in the case.

Without video of the altercation itself, it remains to be seen who instigated what, and if the charge against the assailant will stand up in court.

Toya, Memphitz, Reginae, Da Brat & More Hit The “Battleship” ATL Screening

Last night at AMC Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, your fave southern celebs put on their club best to catch the screening of Battleship.  Check out Toya & fam, Marlo Hampton, Da Brat (sigh) and more inside…

It was family time at last night’s Battleship screening for the Wrights.  Memphitz, Toya & youngin’ Reginae hit up the red carpet screening.

Sometimes it seems like Toya just got a bunch of new stuff earlier that day and threw it all together so she can wear it all at once.  Cute look, but would have loved a nude bag with this though.

Hew Memphitz…and your zebra shorts.

RHOA chick Marlo Hampton looked nice in an all white look.  Loving the pantsuit with a neon pop of color in her shoes.

Oh Kalenna.  The former Dirty Money chick felt bright and shiny today…in more ways than one.  Just so many things arguing for my visual attention here.  And I don’t like that feeling.

Speaking of not liking something… hairstylist & reality tv personality Derek J busted up on the scene with sunny yellow skinny pants, an orange long sweater and matching heels and….whatevs.

Da Brat had a relapse of timing again as she rocked a look any 12-year-old boy would love.  Why Brat?  The backpack too?  WHY?

Battleship is in theaters today.

FACEOFF: Monica VS. Marlo Hampton In White Menswear Inspired Looks

Nothing like kicking off summer with white hot looks in your closet.  And we’re loving the way both ATL ladies Marlo Hampton & Monica are ushering in the season.  Decide who rocked the all white tailored pantsuit best inside…

Last night at a private screening for the Battleship film at Atlanta’s AMC Phipps theater, "Real Housewives of Atlanta" almost-cast member Marlo Hampton looked white hot in her perfectly fitting Valentino pants.  She paired it with a White Iro tailored blazer, a silk white button down from Theory and the perfect pop of color on the feet–neon orange Jimmy Choo pumps.

But before Marlo rocked this look, Monica rocked an all white pantsuit (different designer) to her Grey Goose event she hosted at the W Hotel in Buckhead last week.   She rocked a shell blouse and a gunmetal clutch.  All paired with the perfect spring shoe–nude platform pumps.  And a pop of color with a bright pink lip.

While Marlo accessorized with Chanel & Hermes bracelets and a Versace gold clutch, Monica kept her look more sophisticated with several strands of pearls…and just her wedding ring.

So…

WHO RAN IT?!

Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier will answer these three questions

On Saturday, the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix will come to a conclusion and the lightweight belt will be tested. When the fights are over, we’ll have answers to these questions:

1. Where do Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier stand in the heavyweight division? Both Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier are expected to be brought over to the UFC after this fight. While Strikeforce originally promised the grand prix winner a fight in Strikeforce after the win, every other heavyweight in their employ is now in the UFC. It’s more likely that they will be in the UFC sooner than later, and how they perform in this Saturday’s bout will decide what kind of challenge they will be given.

A strong performance can ensure the winner starts near the top of the ladder, fighting in an elimination bout. A weak, boring performance means the loser may end up having a long way to fight before getting anywhere near UFC gold.

2. Is Gilbert Melendez one of the world’s best lightweights? Though fighting in one of the most packed weight classes, Melendez hasn’t fought Frankie Edgar, Benson Henderson or any of the other top lightweights of the UFC, so it’s hard to know where to rank him. With Josh Thomson, Melendez will get a chance both to prove himself against a tough opponent and a shot at winning the rubber match.

3. Who deserves a shot at the Strikeforce light heavyweight belt? Since Dan Henderson left for the UFC, the Strikeforce light heavyweight strap has been sitting on a shelf, collecting dust. Saturday’s bout between Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante and Mike Kyle will help Strikeforce decide who should get that shot at the vacant title.

What questions are missing? Speak your mind in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Red Bull under the spotlight

Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel celebrate with Red Bull boss Christian Horner on the podium © Getty Images

Sections of the international media have questioned Red Bull’s strategic approach to the world championship. After Sebastian Vettel won the Brazilian Grand Prix from the team’s points leader Mark Webber at Interlagos, Der Spiegel noted: “Red Bull gives (Fernando) Alonso wings”. Not switching the places means that Spaniard Alonso can take his Ferrari to just second place this weekend in Abu Dhabi and be champion, whereas the alternative strategy would have set up Webber for a straight fight. “It is not easy for Webber to drive in a team that considers him a burden to be up against Vettel,” said La Gazzetta dello Sport. Tuttosport noted that it seems “the Austrian team would be happier to lose than to see Webber beat Vettel”. “No team orders at Red Bull. Another own goal,” headlined La Repubblica. Joan Villadelprat wrote in his El Pais column: “Had Red Bull opted for Webber a few races ago, the Australian would probably now be champion.” Red Bull, however, is unrepentant. Team owner Dietrich Mateschitz told Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper that “second under proper conditions can often be more valuable than a first”. But there is a feeling that the team is not simply giving up the fight for the drivers’ title. One columnist in Brazil’s Globo wondered if Vettel’s radio message in Abu Dhabi might sound something like ‘So … Mark is faster than you’. “I’m always in favour of leaving the fight on the track with equal chances for both sides,” said Rubens Barrichello. “But I wonder if they would do that if the situation was in reverse. ?Mark has done a great job this year and he has been told by his team what position he is in,” said Lewis Hamilton. “Against adversity he has kept at it. I want to see Mark win.” Webber believes that, if a strategy is deployed, it will only be on the “last lap” of the season this weekend. “Sebastian is part of a team,” said Niki Lauda, who believes Webber should be backed fully by Red Bull. “If he does anything it should be helping Webber and not just on the last lap.” Webber is quoted by Bild newspaper: “It makes sense. Otherwise it would mean that Ferrari’s team orders would have paid off for Fernando.” Red Bull team boss Christian Horner hints that sense will ultimately prevail. “We have already given too many presents to Fernando this year,” he is quoted by Autosprint.

McLaren drivers out of title race

Is it now a three-way battle for the title? © Getty Images

Fernando Alonso is still the driver in the best position to win the drivers? title according to the Daily Telegraph?s Tom Cary.

?Focus and concentration will be of paramount importance and there is none stronger in this regard than Ferrari?s Fernando Alonso.?

The Guardian?s Oliver Owen thinks that it is Mark Webber?s title to lose now, and that this may be the Australian?s last realistic chance of winning the title.

?He has driven beautifully. Monaco and Silverstone spring to mind. He has been an uncompromising racer, not giving Vettel or Lewis Hamilton an inch in Turkey and Singapore respectively. Most importantly, he has largely avoided the bouts of brain fade that can wreck a season ? his on-track hooning in Melbourne when racing Hamilton being the only exception. But there is a feeling that for Webber it is now or never, that a chance of a tilt at the title may never come again. He is certainly driving as if that is the case and that has been his strength.?

According to The Mirror?s Byron Young, both McLaren drivers are now out of the title hunt after their fourth and fifth place finishes in Suzuka.

?McLaren’s title hopes died yesterday in a weekend from Hell at Suzuka. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth in a Japanese Grand Prix they had to win to have the remotest chance of keeping their title bid alive.”

The Sun?s Michael Spearman was of the same opinion, saying ?Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button’s title hopes were in tatters after a shocker in Japan.?

European Activists Could Force Facebook?s New Privacy Changes To A Worldwide Vote

facebook-privacy-1The European activists ?europe-v-facebook.org?, led by a group of Austrian students, say that they have reached the 7,000-comment threshold on a Facebook privacy proposal, first raised last week, which would force the company to take the revisions to a worldwide vote. Perhaps not the best timing for Facebook, but great timing for those looking for more profile on the whole issue of privacy and how it is approached by Facebook. Specifically, if you go to Facebook’s English-language Data Use Policy page where it has detailed the new proposals, there are now over 9,000 comments on the post. The proposal, you can see, has some XXX’s at the top: that’s because it is due to close this evening, at 5pm Pacific time (yes, more business as usual at Facebook, despite the fact that it also happens to be going through the biggest IPO ever in tech history).

50 Cent Hospitalized–Talks Surgery & Stomach Virus

50 Cent has been tweeting pics of himself in the hospital this evening–and he’s not only upset about having to apparently get surgery, but also about the stuffed animals DJ Drama sent over.

Deets inside…

Folks around the net doubted the realness of these hospital beds when Curtis first tweeted them, especially since he made sure to throw in promo for his new mixtape saying:

“I’m in the hospital but my gangsta grillz LOST TAPE is done so it will be out on time…Do not do a @djdrama gangsta grillz this is all I get. Ain’t this a b*tch. I give 15 tracks you give me this.”

But apparently, his hospital stint is very real:

50 tweeted:

"I don’t want to go into surgery @FloydMayweather call my phone why your phone off."

Dan…checking Floyd like that’s his chick or something.  *eyebrows raised*  Speaking of his chick, his boo Daphne Joy tweeted that she’s "standing by loved ones" tonight.  Oh how sweet.

And for WTF is going on with Fif…Drama told XXL tonight it’s a stomach virus of sorts:

“First they wanted to keep it quiet, but he’s not a quiet guy,” said Drama about 50, who is collaborating with Dram to put out his The Lost Tape gangsta grillz mixtape on May 22. “He should be cool. It’s nothing that serious. We still gonna do our promo run stuff [Thursday].”

Surgery for a stomach virus?  Hmm.  Get well soon Fif.

Nate Diaz shines in UFC on Fox 3 main event; Johny Hendricks, Alan Belcher and Lavar Johnson with big wins

Nate Diaz became the first fighter to stop Jim Miller at UFC on Fox 3 in New Jersey Saturday with a guillotine choke in the second round of the main event.

After a tight first round, Diaz started to taunt Miller in the second round. When Miller tried for the takedown, Diaz rolled into a one-arm guillotine choke so tight that Miller’s tongue was stuck out. He was forced to tap at 4:09 in the second.

After the bout, Diaz said he had a hard time with the bout because he respected Miller.

“I’m happy to come out to New Jersey and come out and perform. It was hard to be motivated to train because he’s a good guy.”

With the win, Diaz is expected to face Anthony Pettis in a title-eliminator bout.

Hendricks takes split-decision

Surprisingly, the two Division I national champions stuck to striking for most of the first round. Josh Koscheck got the better of exchanges and avoided Johny Hendricks’ takedowns. Hendricks did a better job in the second, using lefts to beat up Koscheck’s face and knees to weaken his legs.

Koscheck got the first takedown of the fight in the round, and used top position to control the fight until the end but it was Hendricks who came out with a 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 split-decision win.

For Hendricks, the win is his fourth in a row and the key to a welterweight title shot. UFC president Dana White hinted earlier this week that with a win, Hendricks could be next in line, after interim champ Carlos Condit challenges George St-Pierre.

Belcher, Johnson impress

Most fighters cannot escape the Rousimar Palhares leg lock, but Alan Belcher did and that was the key to his win. Belcher attempted a leg lock of his own before Palhares put on the kneebar that has broken many a fighter before him. When he escaped, he put down ground and pound that stopped Palhares at 4:18 in the first round.

Pat Barry tried to use a ground game against Johnson early on, but he couldn’t keep Lavar Johnson down. With less than a minute to go in the first round, Johnson wobbled Barry with a head kick, then hemmed him in against the fence, landing a barrage of punches. Barry didn’t move and just absorbed Johnson’s strikes until he fell to the ground with 21 seconds left in the first round.

UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz is out of his UFC 148 bout with Urijah Faber. UFC president Dana White announced the bad news via Twitter on Monday afternoon. The exact circumstances of the injury and a timeline for recovery have not been revealed.

Cruz tweeted his disappointment.

“Im bummed people,Thanx 4 the support as i battle this, big sorry to all the fans out there!I WILL recover n I WILL b back 2put on a show!”

Cruz is currently coaching against Faber on “The Ultimate Fighter.”Their July 7 bout was to be a rubber match after Faber won their 2007 bout at featherweight and Cruz took the 2011 bantamweight bout. After facing off as coaches on TUF, the bout was supposed to decide a rivalry that’s been brewing for years.

Their bout was also the original main event for UFC 148 until Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva’s fight was moved to Las Vegas from Brazil. Even without Cruz/Faber, UFC 148 still is poised to be one of the best cards of the year. Sonnen/Silva, Forrest Griffin’s rubber match with Tito Ortiz, and Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le gives the card plenty of star power.

Team order rule needs a re-think

Jean Todt arives for Wednesday’s hearing © Getty Images

Formula One should look at abolishing the controversial ban on team orders after Ferrari escaped further punishment for their manipulation of the German Grand Prix result. That is the view of the Daily Telegraph?s Tom Cary, who is of the opinion that the team orders rule now needs to be seriously looked at because of its obvious shortcomings.

?Whether you are for or against team orders, if the FIA could not back up its own rules and nail a competitor in a blatant case such as this the rule really does need reviewing. Perhaps Ferrari?s thinly-veiled threat to take the matter to the civil courts if they were punished too harshly scared the governing body, who as much as admitted the flimsiness of its rule.”

Paul Weaver, reporting for the Guardian in Monza, was in favour of the ruling which keeps alive Ferrari?s slim chances in an enthralling championship.

?The World Motor Sport Council was right not to ruin a compelling Formula One season by taking away the 25 points Alonso collected in Germany. That would have put him out of the five-man title race. But the council was widely expected to increase the fine and possibly deduct points from the team, as opposed to the individual. In the end, it could be argued that common sense prevailed. But the decision will dismay those who were upset by the way Ferrari handled the situation as much as anything else.?

The Daily Mail’s Jonathan McEvoy expressed outrage at the FIA tearing up its own rule book by allowing Ferrari to escape unpunished.

“Although the race stewards fined them £65,000 for giving team orders in July, the FIA World Motor Sport Council, to whom the matter was referred, decided not to impose any further punishment. It leaves the sport’s rulers open to derision. It was, after all, their rule they undermined. In a statement, the WMSC said the regulation banning team orders ‘should be reviewed’.”

Braulio Estima Responds to Cesar Gracie Statement

Nick Diaz’s Coach and Manager Cesar Gracie recently released a statement on his student’s recent no-show for his superfight at the World BJJ-Expo. The statement placed most of the blame on the promoter “Junior” and opponent Braulio Estima. Estima (a 3x world BJJ champion and 2009 ADCC absolute champion) took offense to parts of the statement, namely the assertions that he hid his MMA aspirations, his weight, and about Cesar’s explanation of the night’s events.

Doctors use Formula One pit crews as safety model

American Medical News reports hospitals in at least a dozen countries are learning how to translate the split-second timing and near-perfect synchronisation of Formula One pit crews to the high-risk handoffs of patients from surgery to recovery and intensive care.

“In Formula One, they have checklists, databases, and they have well-defined processes for doing things, and we don’t really have any of those things in health care.”

?King Mo? Lawal signs one-of-a-kind deal with TNA wrestling and Bellator (VIDEO)

After being released by Strikeforce, former light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has signed with both TNA professional wrestling and Bellator. Both groups have a partnership with Spike, making this deal possible.

“This deal is a dream come true for me,” Lawal said. “Bjorn [Rebney, Bellator CEO] and Dixie [Carter, TNA president] have given me the opportunity to engage in my two great loves, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, at the same time.  And, to have it all on Spike TV is really Buttercream icing on a big ole cake ? not that whipped cream stuff either!”

He will begin appearing with TNA Impact this summer. When Bellator moves from MTV2 to Spike in 2013, Lawal will return to mixed martial arts.

It’s a perfect fit for Lawal, who has world-class amateur wrestling credentials and enough showmanship to fit in well among the pro wrestling world. His fight entrances often used props and dancers, and he wore a crown and a cape to the cage. Lawal also showed off his pro wrestling chops with Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier in November of 2009.

This contract is a bright spot for what had been a turbulent 2012 for Lawal. He contracted a life-threatening staph infection after knee surgery. His victory over Lorenz Larkin was overturned by the Nevada Athletic Commission for a positive drug test, and he was suspended from MMA for nine months. After the hearing to appeal his suspension, Lawal called a commissioner a racist [expletive], and was cut from Strikeforce. Though he apologized personally to the commissioner, he was still not invited back to the Zuffa-owned promotion.

He doesn’t see a scenario where he will return to Zuffa through Strikeforce or the UFC:

“I’m not going to wait for nobody. If somebody comes to me with something that is good and a great deal, I’m going to take the best deal. And right now, the Bellator deal is the best deal you can possibly get. With Bellator and Impact Wrestling, that’s the best deal you can possibly get, and I took it.”

How will “King Mo” do as a pro wrestler and fighter? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or Twitter.

Five UFC belts up for grabs this summer

Over the weekend, two more UFC championship bouts were finalized for the summer, and it’s clear that the UFC wants to keep those championship belts moving. Every belt, except for the welterweight belt that is in limbo because of Georges St-Pierre’s injured knee and the just-contested light heavyweight belt, will be on the line between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

– Bantamweight: Champion Dominick Cruz will rematch Urijah Faber at UFC 148 on July 7 in Las Vegas

– Featherweight: Champion Jose Aldo will fight Erik Koch at UFC 149 on July 21 in Calgary

– Lightweight: Champion Benson Henderson will rematch with Frankie Edgar at UFC 150 on Aug. 11 in Denver

– Middleweight: Champion Anderson Silva will rematch with Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, which is the most stacked UFC event since UFC 129 last April.

– Heavyweight: Champion Junior dos Santos will fight Frank Mir at UFC 146 on May 26 in Las Vegas.

Throw in a free on Fox show, a Fuel and an FX show and UFC 147 with Wanderlei Silva fighting Vitor Belfort, it’s going to be a … wait for it … hot summer of MMA. Which belt is most likely to have a new owner by Labor Day? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.
